Launched in 2013 and modelled after the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, the Global Young Scientists Summit was conceived to inspire the next generation of scientists, build a strong global research network for young researchers in Singapore and introduce Singapore's research and development mindshare.
The Summit is typically held over five days during the second or third week of January at one of Singapore's esteemed universities.
Nominees should be from the following categories:
Post-doctoral researchers or equivalent (≤5 years after obtaining PhD degree at the time of the Summit)
Graduate students (Masters and Doctoral)
All nominees should meet the following criteria:
Show a genuine interest in science and research;
Show a strong commitment to their principal field of study and to interdisciplinary work;
Be fluent in English to actively participate in discussions;
Not have participated on-site in previous GYSS, with the exception for GYSS 2021 and 2022 (online editions);
Not have a permanent position in an academic institution (in general, scientists at tenured professor level will not be admitted to the Summit)
GYSS provides:
6 nights’ hotel accommodation
Ground transport in between GYSS activities
Breakfast, lunch and tea breaks are provided during the Summit
Nominating Institutes / Participants provide:
Return airfare and visa application
Airport transfers
Dinner for evenings without GYSS programme
Ground transport for their own leisure visit
